INDICATORS

‘Indicators’ is a three-part zine series exploring how cultural preferences operate as a form of cultural capital within the alternative music scene of Glasgow. Being published digitally and physically, the ‘Indicators’ zines intend to explore and present the research insights in an engaging and accessible manner, functioning primarily as a form of practice-based research. Additionally, the design and development of ‘Indicators’ utilises DIY practices employed by alternative music communities. This approach ensures that the project actively participates within the scene and creates an artefact that can accumulate its own cultural capital. Each volume of ‘Indicators’ explores a new conceptual theme, under the titles - ‘Signals’ (issue one), ‘Selection’ (issue two) and ‘Status’ (issue three).
